2Nd Annual Madison Avenue Gallery Walk – April 28, 2018

CURATOR AND ARTIST TALKS & TOURS IN 46 RENOWNED GALLERIES 

The 2nd Annual Madison Avenue Gallery Walk will take place on April 28, the Saturday preceding the TEFAF, Art New York and Frieze New York fairs. It has been organized to give art collectors and enthusiasts the time and space to visit the 46 participating galleries that span Madison Avenue and its adjacent side streets from East 57 to East 86 Streets. 

Throughout the day, curators and artists at participating galleries will present Gallery Talks discussing their respective exhibitions. A print edition of the Madison Avenue Gallery Map will be available as a visitor’s guide. 

In conjunction with the Gallery Walk, for the fourth time, the Madison Avenue BID is partnering on a public art exhibition with New York’s School of Visual Arts (SVA). On Madison Avenue’s sidewalks, students from SVA will be displaying, in Lucite-enclosed 8-foot-tall pedestals artworks that represent their respective inspiration for pursuing a career as an artist. The SVA’s Chair of the 3D Design Program and Art Directors Club Hall of Fame Laureate Kevin T. O’Callaghan, is mentoring the students showcased in this public exhibition. 

Madison Avenue Gallery Walk will be free and open to the public, with programming taking place from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m. This event is organized by the Madison Avenue Business Improvement District (BID). 8TH ANNUAL MADISON AVENUE WATCH WEEK – MAY 14 – 19, 2018 

PREMIERING THE WORLD’S FINEST TIMEPIECES 

An established and much anticipated event drawing distinguished watch clients from the New York region, the 8th Annual Madison Avenue Watch Week is scheduled for Monday, May 14 to Saturday, May 19th. Madison Avenue Watch Week is a premiere experience for the watch connoisseur offering a “first look” at the timepieces launched at the Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie and the 2018 Baselworld World Watch and Jewelry Show. 

Open to the public, premier watch brands welcome enthusiasts and collectors with special events and offerings during business hours in the participating Madison Avenue stores located between 57th and 86th Streets. By visiting the

Madison Avenue Watch Week will include artisan demonstrations; discussions with watchmakers; presentations regarding trends in design, manufacturing and mechanism technology; exhibitions of antique and historic timepieces and exclusive VIP sales appointments. Madison Avenue Watch Week is presented by the Madison Avenue Business Improvement District (BID), sponsored by The Wall Street Journal and supported by the Horological Society of New York.

New York City historic district regulations have played a tremendous role in maintaining Madison Avenue as an eclectic, enticing and elegant shopping destination. Tour Madison Avenue with leaders from its business and preservation communities to learn how cutting edge retail design has been successfully incorporated with historic building fabric on Tuesday, May 15; 5pm-7pm
