FASHION VALLEY, SAN DIEGO Visitors to Fashion Valley are invited the Lunar New Year family festivities on Friday, January 31 in the Macy’s Court. Fashion Valley will showcase an impressive red lantern overhead decor at the courtyard along with community performances and an illuminated Dragon and Lion Dance to close out the evening.

THE FORUM SHOPS AT CEASARS PALACE, LAS VEGAS – In celebration of the Chinese New Year, The Forum Shops at Caesars Palace has a variety of special touches in store to herald the Year of the Rat. Guests visiting during the celebratory season will be dazzled with décor, a festive parade, special retail offerings and more.

The Forum Shops at Caesars Palace will showcase a 22-ft. long, 6-ft. wide and 12-ft. high dragon situated on the Fortuna Terrace. The massive 950-lb steel-framed dragon is covered in 30,000 red and amber LED lights, many of which flicker, giving the mythical beast a vibrant look and dynamic feel. The dazzling dragon sits upon a lush red carpet surrounded by hand-painted wood pillars, gold fencing and red velvet ropes. The impressive display was custom created exclusively for The Forum Shops and will be on display throughout February 2019.

For the 24th consecutive year, The Forum Shops at Caesars Palace will welcome students from the Meadows School, who will perform the traditional dragon parade throughout The Forum Shops at Caesars on Wednesday, January 29. The cast of singers and dancers includes 120 Meadows students – 60 from kindergarten and 60 from fifth grade. 

MADISON AVENUE, NEW YORK CITY – The 5th Annual Madison Avenue Lunar New Year event will kick-off on Saturday, February 1. Madison Avenue will celebrate the Year of the Rat with a centuries-old tradition by installing wishing trees along Madison Avenue, located between East 63 and East 64 Streets, will remain up until February 8.

The visitors are invited to place a ribbon with their wish on a branch at the wishing tree at Madison Avenue & East 63rd Street to receive a traditional red envelope containing a gift certificate from a participating Madison Avenue retailer in the Madison Avenue Business District between 57th and 86th Streets.  Upon placing a red ribbon on the tree, each person will be given a “passport” that they can present to five participating businesses to qualify for their red envelope gift. No purchase required. Passports are also available at all participating retailers.  Each red envelope will contain a gift and/or gift certificate from participating retailers. Guests can retrieve their red envelopes at the partner restaurant Philippe by Philippe Chow on East 60 Street.  Shoppers will have the opportunity to purchase special exclusive products and enjoy special pricing as Madison Avenue celebrates the Lunar New Year.

ROYAL HAWAIIAN CENTER, WAIKĪKĪ – Lunar New Year casts its lucky glow over Royal Hawaiian Center with cultural performances, special events, live entertainment, and a limited-time gift with purchase. The Year of the Rat festivities take place from Thursday, January 16 through Sunday, February 9, with a full day of celebratory events on Saturday, January 25.

The celebration begins with a special Lunar New Year kick-off event on Thursday, January 16 from 2PM to 4PM in The Royal Grove. Chinese calligrapher Ina Chang will share her talent and tips with Royal Hawaiian Center visitors through free calligraphy demonstrations. At 6:00PM., a lion dance performance will thrill and excite shoppers in The Royal Grove. This year’s Miss Chinatown 2020 contestants will also be on-site for a special meet and greet with visitors throughout the evening.

On Saturday, January 25, Chinese New Year Day with a lion dance performance by the Lung Kong Physical Culture Club from 5:00 to 8:00PM. The Lung Kong Physical Culture Club will also delight guests with festive holiday fireworks and cultural performances including tai chi and martial arts demonstrations. Chinese dances by the Hawaii Dong Fang Art Troupe will take place from 3:15 to 3:45PM, with a Korean fan dance performance by the Hallah Huhm Korean Dance Studio following shortly thereafter from 4:30 to 5:00PM.

On Friday, January 31, from 6:30 to 8:30PM, in partnership with Stargazers of Hawaii, the Center is providing shoppers the opportunity to peer through large portable telescopes and explore Hawaii’s beautiful night sky in search of the moon, planets, star clusters, galaxies and more. Stargazers of Hawaii and their telescopes will be located between Buildings A and B, on the Level 4 bridge. Participation is on a first come, first serve basis.

From January 16 through February 9, shoppers can also take advantage of the limited-time Lunar New Year gift with purchase promotion. Redeem $500 or more in cumulative Royal Hawaiian Center receipts then pick up a lucky lai see red envelope at Helumoa Hale Guest Services. Each lai see envelope contains a lucky number that corresponds to a prize, including an exclusive ALOHA red tote bag designed by local artist Bethany Georges, merchandise and gift cards from participating merchants, and specialty logo items. Lucky lai see envelopes are limited to one envelope per person, per day, while supplies last. Throughout the Lunar New Year period, shoppers can also indulge in special Lunar New Year dishes at participating restaurants.

SANTA MONICA PLACE, SANTA MONICA Join the celebration on Saturday, January 25 from 2 – 6 PM to enjoy a variety of entertainment for the whole family including Asian-themed stilt walkers, traditional Korean fan dancers, Chinese dough artist, Balloon twister and Chinese dragon dances. Comedian Paul “PK” Kim will emcee.  Arts and crafts along with wishing trees with photos ops will be available in Center Plaza.

SCOTTSDALE FASHION SQUARE – In partnership with Phoenix Chinese Week, Scottsdale visitors will be treated to special cultural presentations on Saturday, January 25 from Noon-3PM including Asian calligraphy, Lion Dancers, Dragon Dancers, Face Mask Changing, and Wishing Tree Wall located in the Palm Court. Lunar New Year fashion displays will be located throughout the center.

TYSONS CORNER CENTER, WASHINGTON DC – On Sunday, February 26 from 11AM-2PM, Tysons Corner Center will entertain guests with cultural demonstrations and performances showcased by The Jow Ga Shaolin Institute presenting Lion and Dragon Dances. The Institute promotes the study of authentic Chinese martial arts for health, fitness emotional well-being and self-defense. Arts and crafts will be available in the Fashion Court. Matcha Kiosk will offer sampling as well as Moge Tee. Luxury retailers, Bloomingdales and Nordstrom, will host samples at the make-up counters.
